Managing Licenses
Every time a user runs the
sign.exe file, a license is being used. When no more licenses are available,
eMailSignature stops updating signatures, but users can still use the last generated versions of signatures.
Viewing License Information
The license information is available in the Cockpit's home page.
To view the license information, proceed as follows:
- Click the home button
in the quick access bar.
The license overview appears similarly as in the following example
The license overview information is also displayed graphically in the Setup tab, as in the following example.
- View the license information in percentage in the following bars:
- The first bar shows the percentage of all users using eMailSignature in relation to how many licenses are available.
- The second bar shows the percentage of users successfully running the
sign.exe file. - The third bar shows the percentage of all users that have failed running the
sign.exe file.
- To refresh the license information, click 'Refresh Info'.
Entering a New License Key
To enter a new
license key, click 'License Key' in the 'Setup' tab and enter your license key and the security code provided by eMailSignature or a reseller.
Freeing Up Licenses Manually
You can free up licenses manually in one of two ways:
- If there are users that have not run
sign.exe file for over 30 days, their licenses may be released and used by other users. To do this, click 'Release Licenses' in the 'License Watch' section of the 'Setup' tab.
- If you wish to release a single user, you can do this from within the Status Monitor by removing the user entirely from eMailSignature. For more information, see Removing User from eMailSignature section.
Freeing Up Licenses Automatically
Licenses can be freed up automatically. If you have many users it is too time consuming to do it manually.
eMailSignature works with a 30-day grace period for freeing up licenses. After that period, the license can be removed automatically.
To free up licenses automatically, proceed as follows:
- From www.emailsignature.com, download the following files:
Releaselicense.exeReleaselicense.reg
- Run the
releaselicense.reg file, which will create a key in the registry, which then must be edited. - To edit the key, open the registry editor and browse to the following entry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Office add-on\eMailSignature string 'SettingsDatabase'
- In the 'SettingsDatabase' string, paste the connection string to the settings database. The connection string can be copied by clicking 'Change Database' in the Setup tab and copying the string from the form.
- Save the
releaselicense.exe file in a preferred folder and run it as a scheduled task. Scheduled tasks can be created in the Control Panel. Set your own preferred execution time, however, a weekly run is often recommended.
